THIS SITE SPECIALIZES IN EHTIOPIAN AND AMERICAN OPALS FORMED BY VOLCANIC ACTION.
SPENCER OPAL
This is a piece of  rough opal from Spencer Idaho USA.It was deposited in volcanic rocks app 4 million years ago by geysers. When a geyser would erupt the liquid contaning tiny spheres of silica would form a  thin layer of precious opal. The opal colour bar is thin so it is ideal for cutting in to triplets. This field is known for its rare star patterned triplets. The opal  specimen has been glued to a stronger base for ease of handling.
This  rough can be kept as a specimen made in to a triplet or kept as a polished specimen. You can see some natural  fractures in the stone so it would have to be stabilized if you wanted a stone specimen. If so go to the FORUM on opal auction section then CUTTING OPALS then CUTTING /STABILIZING Ethiopian opals as it is the same for this type of stone.
Weight 11.6 cts app
Size 17x 11x7.5 mm app

Why are users outbidding themselves?

Automatic Bid icon
Automatic Bid

When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a person is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on behalf of the bidder, incrementally increasing the bid up to the maximum to maintain their position as the highest bidder.

When there is an icon indicating 'Automatic Bid', it means our system is actively placing bids for the bidder based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if bidders are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the bidders maximum limit.

Audit

The Opal Sheriff program allows our members to request an audit on any product, which is completed by an independent Gemologist who assesses the accuracy of the item description and pictures.
