This is a stone mined in Andamooka with a solid glass top to protect the stone-there is no base just the opal so its not classed as a triplet.
The weight is for the stone and silver.

Cubic zirconia as accent stones
The opal has been carbonized to become black.
Before the opal was formed during a ice age the glaciers bought down rounded pebbles and debris-the black dots you see are the deposits of the glacier -i think it makes a great talking pint
