This white based opal bivalve full shell specimen was recently mined on the Old 15 Mile opal field of Coober Pedy Australia.

Collectors specimens like this are becoming increasingly rare due to the major fields being mostly worked out and declining mining activity.

This spectacular piece displays beautiful white based multicolor fire throughout the shell and has been left with it's pristine natural fossil definition apart from a polished window on one side.

WEIGHT: 89.10 carats. ( About 40 to 50 carats of clean gem quality opal.)

DIMENSIONS: around 35 by 32 by 19 mm

BRIGHTNESS: A beautiful 3.5 out of 5 all over.

This stone could possibly yield some opal (25 to 35 carats) but is possibly better left as a world class specimen.
