Lambina Opal is mined in South Australia, not far from Coober Pedy, and is renowned for its distinctive bright play of colour set against crystal or light body tone. The Lambina field has produced some of Australia’s finest crystal opal, often with vibrant flashes of red, green, and gold. Unlike many fields, Lambina opal typically forms in smaller, cleaner seams with minimal potch, giving cutters a high yield of gem material.

The Lambina area was once an active pastoral lease before opal was discovered there, and for decades it has been worked by small-scale miners using open-cut and hand-dug methods. Production today is limited, making high-quality Lambina opal increasingly sought after by collectors and cutters. Its unique clarity and fire make it stand out among other South Australian opals.
