  • Around 100 million years ago, the area was covered by an inland sea, perfect conditions for marine fossils like clams, belemnites, and even dinosaur bones.

  • Today, it’s known for producing precious opals and opalised fossils—some of which are museum-grade or even scientifically significant

• Fossilised shells (from ancient marine clams) that have been replaced or filled with precious opal over millions of years.

• This opalisation process occurs when silica-rich water seeps into the fossil cavities and solidifies over time.

• The result is a fossil with brilliant opal colouration, often with play-of-colour in blues, greens, reds, or purples.
