Extreamly colorful 18.16ct Virgin Valley contra luz opal.
This piece explodes with a rainbow of holographic color when its back or side-lit. The camera only picks up half the play-of-color too, it looks twice as pretty and complex in person!

I Found this piece during my visit to Rainbow Ridge (located in Virgin Valley, Nevada). Nevada is famous for its precious opal limb casts (pretrified wood that formed with, or was entirely replaced by opal). This piece is most likley a fragment of a branch or root that was completely replaced by opal.
As always, its hard to capture the full extent of color play with my phone camera. However the dark room helps to bring out the natural colors a little bit more!
