A doublet is a combination of a precious natural crystal or light opal and a veneer of black potch. These are bonded together to create a doublet which emulates the brightness of colour found in black and dark opals. All of the opals i cut with very high standards.                                                 The opal was mined in Mulga which is an area near Lightning Ridge renowned for the world famous black opal found there. The stone has been backed with N1 black opal potch from Lightning Ridge making it a true composite opal gemstone.             The gem weighs 3.40 carats, and has 13.19mm length 8.22mm width and has 4.40mm depth. It would make a beautiful ring or pendant once set
