DOUBLET OPALPENDANT

This   is a natural crystal opal from Coober Pedy mounted on to ironstone from Queensland to give the look of expensive black opal.There is also a   stunning natural reddish garnet to enhance the jewelery.

The stone has been bezel set which helps protect it.

The workmanship and quality is excellent.

Our   jewelery manufacturing is contracted out to one factory in Asia where I   supply both the silver and stones to be set.This gives me control of   the quality of both the silver and stones.

Garnets species are found in many colors including red,  orange, yellow, green,  purple, brown, black, pink and colorless.Some change color from blue-green in the daylight to purple in incandescent light, as a result of the relatively high amounts of vanadium. Other varieties of color-chaging garnets exist. In daylight, their color ranges from shades of green, beige, brown, gray, and blue, but in incandescent light, they appear a reddish or purplish/pink color.  Because of their color changing quality, this kind of garnet is often mistaken for Alexandrite.

WHAT IS A DOUBLET ?

Doublets consist of two layers adhered together with glue:

1. A thin slice of opal     (normally transparent crystal ). The thickness of the opal in a doublet     can vary, however it is generally thicker than the opal found in a     triplet.
2. A black backing which is     made of either black glass, natural     black potch (common opal), hard plastic or natural brown ironstone
