SEDA OPALS

BLACK OPAL 

This is a natural stone mined in Lightning ridge that was featured in the tv show " Out back opal hunters'. This stone was mined by Peter Cook and his off sider Sam. There is a photo of peter holding the stone. They faced the stone down and i bought it as a rub. There are gypsum inclusions in the stone so i had to make a decision whether to cut them out or leave in. i decided to cut for weight as there are some amazing patterns in this stone .Gypsum is normally found in or near opals.. The stone shows the best in the shade where it looks its best. It one of those stone that dosent like full sunlight. I have included a photo of the rough when it was found and this is taken wet.
