This opal is absolutely special. This is a rare ethiopian opal nut, also known as "chocolate opal".
This opal is a collector piece. It's a rare hydrophane opal which means that the opal becomes wet a red crystal opal and and when it drys it becomes more and more orange and non-transparent. The colors are much stronger when the opal is dry.
The opal in the middle of the nut has cracks, but this is absolutely normal for untreated ethiopian opal nuts. The opal is absolutely stable because of the motherstone (nut) which surrounds it.
The opal is absolutely untreated!
