Folks here is something you will never see again. 12.8 troy ounces or 1984 carats of Black Opal chips and small stones.
These have been tumbled by the miner for a week, so they are very clean and very solid. The tumbler takes material off the sides and top but leaves the black base on. Many of these will become small gems when you polish the tops and sides on your wheel. I would say up to a carat most of them, but there are some larger and some smaller.
It would be a crime to put these in vials as chips, because there is a lot of money to be made from this parcel if you can cut small opals. Not everyone can, it takes patience you see. But given the ever escalating price of Black Opal, it will be well worth your time.
Every color under the sun, plenty of reds. Very much a one off parcel, priced to sell at just over a dollar a carat.
MINTABIE is now closed to mining, there is no more opal from this field.
