Beautiful looking hunk of fossil wood opal I’ve had for 15 years now. Heavy feeling when you pick it up compared to most any other stone. The piece has never touched a wheel. I can see if a peeled off a bit of the top there would be more color revealed. I thought I’d leave that to someone else to do.
It’s a really nice piece and I’m giving it away at $1000. The colors are very brilliant as boulder opal normally is. Could be cut into ring and pendant stone or cut into one magnificent specimen. Or it could be left as it like I have left it.
Please see the videos and photos.
So pretty!! Thank you Murray for dyeing me towards this lovely opal!
Tsehay Mewcha is the mines name that little one came from. It was considered very sable opal in Ethiopia and should never crack no matter how dry it gets.
