This is a natural opal fossil called belemnite.It is a sea animal from the cretaceous period that was replaced by precious opal.It has been re glued in to the sandstone where it was found-We do have natural specimens but these are very expensive and usually end up in museums.This fossil was mined in a field called lambina which is north of Coober pedy-I havent weighted it but it would be around 450 cts-this size fossil is very rare.This specimen has been stablized with opticon.
