This drop shape stone from Lightning Ridge has a strong, broad sheeny pattern when the opal is tilted upwards a bit. It is what is called a directional stone. The opal looks really good from some angles but a little less so from others.
Jewellery retailers love this type of stone because it can be set as a pleasing pendant whereby its best angle will always be on view. And hence the piece of jewellery will command a lot more money. This great value offering is meant solely for a pendant to forever show its strongest fire.
