A large boulder opal could be cut to yield some very nice stones or kept as a gemmy specimen. It is not polished, the opal content shows a glass like sheen from the splitting process of such high quality that polishing maynot be necessary as a specimen. It has a very thick opal layer that will cut many gems. So thick in part that you could cut complete crystal opal gems only without any host stone content. Great color in this gem!
