INDONESIAN ROUGH OPAL

This is a piece of natural rough opal i purchased on my last trip to Banten. Indonesia.
This opal is volcanic in origin and this was a wood fossi replacement.
It is common for the miner to oil there opal but we have wiped it off.The miner has pre cleaned and shaped the rough. This will be a challenge to cut as there can be under cutting due to the different hardness in the opal /sand ect. You can cut it natural or you can use a resin to get a smooth finish..

We have taken a photo of the stone dry to show the colour.
Note this opal loves strong sunlight to looks its best-in dim light there will be little colour,
