This is natural opal matrix found in Andamooka South Australia. It has been treated to look like expensive black opal. We carbonize it by using only sugar under high vacuum pressure to get this result. no acid is used.
The treatment is permanent but strong chemicals can affect it.
The tolerance difference is app.
Also known as hard Andamooka Matrix.
Natural polish with no resin. There may be some natural pit holes but a good luster on the stones.
