This is a natural opal fossil called belemnite. It is a sea animal from the cretaceous period that was replaced by precious opal.
This is a natural opal mined in coober pedy showing stunning colour play.
Most specimens break when they are taken out of the mine wall as the dirt is solid. So they are glued back together.
