Opal doublet from Coober Pedy Australia, cut, polished, ready to set into jewellery.                                           Opal doublets are a an assembled form of opal. A doublet is a combination of a precious natural crystal or light opal and a veneer of black potch. These are bonded together to create a doublet which emulates the brightness of colour found in black and dark opals. All of the opals i cut with very high standards.                                                 The opal was mined in Ryan's Hill, which is an area north of Coober Pedy. The stone has been backed with N1 black opal potch from Lightning Ridge making it a true composite opal gemstone. The gem weighs 1.30 carats, and has 8mm length 5mm width and has 3mm depth.
