The Fang 18.21 ct Ethiopian Welo Opal

- this interesting fang-shaped Welo opal is a combination of cabochon and carving. The long concave arc towards the narrower tip of this stone had to be carved to preserve the natural shape of the stone
- red, orange, green, & yellow colors with a hint of blue and purple
- broadflash pattern
- 3.5/5 brightness
- slightly milky body color
- flat back but the stone is undercut along the concave edge approaching the tip, and will require skill to set
- I cut all my own stones, with each one being a labor of love
- My stones have a superb polish, with a smooth, continuous finish with no scratches or flat spots (note how smoothly the reflection of the light source moves over the opal's surface in the video)
- I don't cut for mass production, but rather to bring out the full beauty of each individual piece of rough opal
- photos and videos are taken under a low-voltage 50W MR-16 halogen light
