Classic Mintabie opal has been used for these doublets. Made in our own cutting workshop not bought from China.
The opal is a little thicker and more importantly cut to make it easier to set without glue as the edges are less sharp and ever so slightly rounded to avoid chipping if being bezel set.
A common problem with doublets made in China.
Opal was mined at least 15 years ago.
