OPAL PENDANT

This is a doublet made from natural crystal from Coober Pedy and backed on to ironstone from Queensland to give a look of expensive black opal.

The workmanship and quality is excellent.

Weight of stone and silver: 10.70 cts.

Our jewelery manafacturing is contracted out to one factory in asia where i supply both the silver and stones to be set.This gives me control of the quality of both the silver and stones.

WHAT IS A DOUBLET ?

Doublets consist of two layers adhered together with glue:

A thin slice of opal (normally transparent crystal ). The thickness of the opal in a doublet can vary, however it is generally thicker than the opal found in a triplet.
A black backing which is made of either black glass, natural black potch (common opal), hard plastic or natural brown ironstone

Note .we have taken the picture with a Nikon coolpix 4500 camera which captures a purple tone in the stone which our eyes cant see.This is a predominate blue stone.
