Wow, what a fantastic Australian Opal here, from the Mintabie Opal fields. Color play all over the surface of the stone. No cracks or crazing. This Opal is stable. As you can see from the side view, the color band on this Opal is exceptionally thick. This Opal could probably be carved down and made dual sided. Has a couple tiny flecks of dark potch, which you can see in the pictures. We’ve priced it well below wholesale, at a mere $100 per carat, which is amazingly reasonable for an Opal of this quality and size.
I took pictures of this Opal in high magnification and full sunlight to give you the best idea of its color play and quality. As a certified gemologist I can verify that the above description is accurate and that this Opal/Opals have been tested in the gem lab to verify identity and natural origin.
We’re new to Opal Auctions. Check out our auctions and feedback on Gem Rock Auctions to get an idea of the level of quality we deal in. Same seller name.
