Folks here is in my opinion the nicest Belemnite for sale at present.
It is beautifully polished to reveal a stunning top class specimen.
It is just full of red, you cant make it go away.
The flash and fire and depth in the fossil is incredible. I collect these and this is one of the nicest I have come across in 20 years.
What I like best about this Opal is that is has such true Opal play of color. It is what Opal is famous for. To have this in such a clear piece, with such flawless color is rare.
When these Opals form, the color settles with gravity. The skeleton of the blemenite, turs to shell and small flakes fall into the jelly as it sets. In most cases they float about and you see them set into the color to a varying degree. This piece I can see two tiny traces on one side near the bottom only, Its a majestic piece. If oyu dont see one, its probably not a Belemnite.
The back has been left natural, I like it that way. There is no reason why you cant polish that side, however this piece is either a display specimen, or a pendant. In both cases, Id leave the back as is. It is very very clean.
It has the prettiest little natural hole left in place that will be prefect for your setter to work with, a real plus.
In the sun, this is full on red with every color imaginable, as the light fades, it turns to red and blue, the most uncommon color combination. Lovely large flakes of color that roll an flash and change shape and color at every turn.
Its worth much more than I am asking for it. When you set it, 3-5 x what you paid is what it will be worth.
It comes in a nice display case, with a glass lid so you can just admire it if thats al you want to do.
This piece will appreciate in value over time very nicely. You have to hold this in your trembling hand to truly appreciate its beauty.
35 x 9 x 7mm, 19.8 carats of color, ready to set, beautiful.
