She is 25.9 carats on my scale, so Im calling it 25.5 to allow for barometric pressure.

This shell is from Coober Pedy, there is a story behind it, remind me to tell you when you buy it, it has had quite a history.

Its no secret, shells, belemnites, fossils, all have the best Opal color. I think its to do with magic because no one can explain why. Maybe its proteins, maybe its just the shell protects the Opal while it sets, no one knows.

This shell has exceptional color and clarity. It is so clear, under the loupe in the right light, you can see one imperfection inside the shell and thats it. Inside is just all color, and very very bright it is.

As oyu can see, its mainly greenand blue, but there is a lot of gold and yellow and on the lips, there is good red color in large flakes. It shows reds on the face, but thats more the light glowing red within than color.

I came across this piece in the rough and had it cut by my master cutter who has done an exceptional job with this shell.

The polish is faultless and as you can see, he has left just enough of the natural to allow you to see that this is truly a Gem Crystal Shell from 60 Million years ago, give or take a few days. You could have that cleaned up if you wanted, there is nothig hiding underneath except color. My cutter left some of the natiural, because to a serious collector, this is a very important factor to see on a polished Shell. It proves it is a Shell you see, a natural COA that cant be copied or faked.

The shell has two sides, one brilliant, this was the sheltered side, and the other side, although smooth as glass, shows some crazing from 60 million years of weathering within the Opal. These are just features of the Shell and do not detract from its value.

Overall, it just radiates color, in full sun or in almost darkness it shows fantastic color and flash and has very deep fire to it.

Because it is so clean inside, it lights up with every angle of the sun. I think t would be ideal as a ringstone, set proud.

It rolls, it flashes, it sparkes, it does all you would want for such a price and more. It has pinfiore and broad flash and lots more patterns, to my eyes, the lips are amazing, the color so concerntrated, its just grouse! Its not often that the lips of a shell are perfect even in a perfect shell, these are!

It is the perfect size for a ringstone, a mighty statement of beauty it would be. When people fiind out it is a Shell, they will be excited even more.

Folks, quite simply, most miners never find a Shell. Those that do, dream of finding a shell lilke this one and would charge you a lot more on the field than I am asking here.
