Item Type:	SOLID BOULDER OPAL HAND CARVED CABOCHON SCARAB. SCARAB ( Art Form Carving) Scarabs, known to ancient Egypt as symbol of life, hope and regeneration. It is believed that everything vibrates with living magic, the actions of sacred birds, animals reveal the will of the gods and goddesses. Scarabs are insects revered by ancient Egyptians as symbol of the resurrection and enduring human soul. Scarabs are associated with the Egyptian morning sun god, Khepri, the creator-god, representing sun from sunrise to sunset. Scarabs were identified with the Sun in the Egyptian religion because they flew during the hottest part of the day. Scarabs carved into Gems were worn on the breastplate for protection. Scarabs also symbolise reaction and tansformation.

Queen Of Gems was founded in 2000 as an internet based information site. It was bought by Bob an accountant who was introduced to Opals from his Opal miner customers in his accounting practice. Bob has a true passion for Opals. Most of his Opals are Boulder Opals and some Crystal Opals that were purchased from a retired miner. A lot of his Opals are over 20 years old.
