Buy Boulder Opal Wood Fossil Rough
This rough is only found in
few mines in the Queensland opal fields.
The wood or timber or vegetation was fossilized along with
the opal formation.
When the opal rough is cut the results can be unique as the vegetation
fossil can be different color and texture to the opal formation.
Most wood fossil is formed on sandy potch instead hard chocolate
ironstone found in other fields like Yowah. The potch can have caramel colours
from light to dark tan colours and each segment maybe have different polish
results.
Sometimes the grains of the timber are clearly visible.
Wood fossil opal can be challenge to polish, but the results
can be a specular unique boulder opal that has historical fossil inclusion.
