Pink Opal comes from two main opal fields. One new opal field in
western Australia and the other from Peru.
The Australian pink opal is found in area west Perth and in
these fields opals were first found some 30 years ago but this opal was very
unstable and was only for specimens.
This new opal field is a different variety to Mookaite and
the Mines department of west Australia has confirmed it is opalized material.
This opal dose not have hues colour but consistent pink colour
with magical unique bands white potch which can be wavy pattern to circular
patterns and makes these stones so unique.
The stone have very bright polish and the opal rough is
ideal to polish.
Some have lot white material and referred to as white opal
more than pink.
This new opal is so good also to carve in and already we see
some fantastic carvings and carvings can be in great detail,so good opal
cutters can carve cameos into this opal
Pink stones from Peru have mostly been milky pink colour .Most stone s are clean but does have black
potch in some pieces
These stones are ideal to make into set ring,pendant,earrings
a s most opals are hard to find like this
And as rough ,they are thick pieces they can easily be cut into
matching stones taking into account the colour bands
Most Peru stones have clean pink colour compared to Australian ones that have more
patterns and brighter colour hues
