BASE BODY TONE GUIDE CHART IS A VALUABLE BUYING TOOL IN THAT IT ALLOWS YOU TO GUAGE THE COLOUR MORE ACCURATELY THAN THE PICTURE OF THE OPAL WHICH CAN BE ENHANCED.NOW YOU CAN COMPARE STONES BETWEEN SELLERS.

SEDA OPALS OWNER, PAUL SEDAWIE, IS THE CURRENT PRESIDENT OF THE OPAL ASSOCIATION INC. THE ASSOCIATION HAS PRODUCED A BODY TONE CHART GUIDE (N1 TO N9) WITH 9 STONES ATTACHED. THIS ALLOWS THE CUSTOMER TO GUAGE A DARKNESS OR.  LIGHTNESS FACTOR FOR ALL OPAL STONES. SO ON THE CHART YOU CAN SEE A COLOUR TONE AND A STONE RELATING TO THAT TONE.

. STONES FROM N6 TO N9 ARE SOLID OPALS, THE REST ARE OPAL DOUBLETS. THE BASE BODY TONE GUIDE REFERS TO THE DARKNESS OR LIGHTNESS OF THE OPAL. THE ONLY DETERMINING FACTOR OF BODY TONE, IS THE FRONT FACE OF THE STONE. THE BUYER SHOULD IGNORE THE MATERIAL ON THE BACK AND THE PLAY OF COLOUR AND BRIGHTNESS OF THE STONE.

**PLEASE NOTE THE BODY TONE GUIDE IS NOT A BRIGHTNESS CHART IE. TWO SIMILAR STONES MAY HAVE THE SAME LEVEL OF BRIGHTNESS BUT HAVE TWO DIFFERENT "N" RATINGS.

STONES RANKED N1 TO N4 ARE CONSIDERED BLACK OPALS ATTRACTING THE ADDITIONAL VALUE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS CLASS OF OPAL. PRICE IS DETERMINED BY BODY TONE , BRIGHTNESS, COLOUR, PLAY OF COLOUR, SIZE AND ALLOWING FOR DEDUCTIONS FOR FAULTS AND INCLUSIONS.

THE CHART IS 60 X 130 MM (6 MM = 1/4 INCH). THE STONES ON THE CARD VARY FROM 6 X 4 TO 7 X 5

The Seda Opal Story
Paul Sedawie started mining at the Four mile field in Lightning Ridge in 1986 with his first partner Bob Young. It took them 6 months to find a decent stone and this experience gave me a healthy respect for the stone and how hard it is to find. The Seda Opal company was incorporated in 1994. We are a member of the Australian Opal and Gem Industry Association .we and . Seda Opals is an abbreviation from our surname Sedawie. The business is mainly wholesale and it is through this site that we can bring the opal fields direct to you. If you don't really like anything, return it for a no questions asked refund or swap it for other stock. You will also find us as the trade shows in Tuscon and Denver. We also send sales staff to some Europe and Asian countries. Our aim is to offer a realiable, friendly service providing good value for your money. Your continued business is our business. All the best. Paul Sedawie and staff.

Seda Opals: 35 Years of Opal Expertise, Direct to You! UP TO 8 WINS IN NR AUCTION IN 3 DAYS Welcome to Seda Opals, a trusted family-owned business with a rich history in opal mining, cutting, and sales. Founded by Paul Sedawie, who also serves as the current president of the Opal Association Inc., our company is fueled by over three decades of experience. While we recently closed our retail shop/museum at the Gold Coast Opal, we've shifted our focus exclusively to online operations. Through this platform, we bring the opal fields and incredible deals straight to you. Our primary emphasis lies in wholesaling, allowing us to provide you with exceptional value. Paul Sedawie embarked on his opal mining journey in 1986 at the Four Mile field in Lightning Ridge, alongside his first partner, Bob Young. It took them six months to uncover a remarkable stone, instilling in Paul a deep respect for the precious gem and the challenges it presents. Today, Paul's eldest son, Peter Sedawie, has taken the reins, while Ross manages our site. This grants Paul the freedom to travel to various opal fields and revel in the breathtaking beauty of this magnificent stone. The youngest member of our family business, Ross Sedawie, has been immersed in the world of opals since his earliest days. His extensive knowledge and understanding of opals ensure you're in capable hands. At Seda Opals, we stand firmly behind our products, offering a 100% money-back guarantee on all purchases. We sincerely hope you enjoy our offerings and wish you the best of luck with your bidding.

Why are users outbidding themselves?

When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a user is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on that users behalf, incrementally increasing the bid to maintain their position as the highest bidder, up to the specified maximum.

When there is an icon indicating 'Auto Bid,' it means our system is actively placing bids for the user based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if users are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the users maximum limit.

Audit

The Opal Sheriff program allows our members to request an audit on any product, which is completed by an independent Gemologist who assesses the accuracy of the item description and pictures.
