Massive example of a Chocolate Opal from Ethiopia. This stone has color coming off every part of the surface. It’s incredibly bright for its size. There’s a little bit of crazing on this stone, but shouldn’t spread because this Opal has been stabilized as most Chocolate Opals of any large size have. This Opal also has a somewhat large cavity on the bottom. Because of these two factors and the fact that this Opal is a specimen and not probably going to be used in jewelry, it has been priced accordingly at only $2 per carat.
I took pictures of this Opal in high magnification and full
sunlight to give you the best idea of its color play and quality.
As a certified gemologist I can verify that the above description
is accurate and that this Opal/Opals have been tested in the
gem lab to verify identity and natural origin.
