5.27 cts Semi-Black Opal - Lightning Ridge

This very flashy semi-black opal has a flat colour bar and some potch webbing in the face of the stone that looks a bit like a spider web. This webbing doesn’t detract from the stone’s beauty but adds more interest. The pattern is a mix of flagstone and mosaic and when the opal is moving the colours blue and green turn or flare into red orange from another angle. The result is a very lively stone. It’s sure to command many an eye when worn either as a pendant or a ring. It is good value too. The opal looks like the shape of a snake’s head, and this exotic impression is further encouraged by its jungle colours.
