PAINTED LADY SPECIMEN
This is a natural specimen found in the Andamooka opal fields in South Australia.The area is known for its large quartz/sandstone boulders where the precious opal has field the voides.The rock is hit hard and the opal usually is found on both sides of the rock.This includes both sides of the specimen.The opal has a natural polish from being split like this.

Most painted ladys are found in Andamooka but some are also found in Coober pedy and in Allans rise.The name is meant to come from a old miner who thought beauty is only skin deep like a lady!!
