The opal layer on this one seems to be quite thin
This is a rough piece of the Stayish deposit of black opal in the Ethiopian Welo region. This type of opal is naturally black (not smoked) and not hydrophane (they don’t absorb water like most Welo opals). This opal may have some cracks/crazes and has therefore been marked a specimen.
