I like the size, weight and composition of this opal in iron stone. It's a nice piece to have on my desk.

AMAZING GEM WOOD REPLACEMENT BOULDER OPAL FROM WINTON QUEENSLAND
This is a natural stone with Crystal Opals forming in sandstone not Ironstone and was vegetation or wood 100 million years ago. The opal has replaced the timber cells over time so you can still see the formation. One of the most popular patterns is ‘Cathedral” Mined in Winton Queensland. You certainly won't be disappointed with this Opal with it looking even better in real life.
This is an interesting Opal as there is timber replaced by precious opal .You can still see the wood grain in the Opal. A beautiful Opal and great for your collection.
There is some reflection from the artificial lights on the stone. We use led lights and our camera sometimes turns blue in to mauve colours so please consider mauve stones to be blue!
Hmmm, well....if I'm truthful this is my least favorite piece mostly due to the size. I guess I didn't really know how small .65 ct. is. Well at least I know now for future purchases.
The Opal Sheriff program allows our members to request an audit on any auction, which is completed by an independent Gemologist who assesses the accuracy of the item description and pictures.
