Opal Shells

Opal Shells are shells that have been opalised. Most opal shells are from Coober Pedy opal fields, with the most valuable black opal shells found at Lightning Ridge.
The Australian outback was once an inland sea, but now its hot dry deserts are where opal miners dig for opalised seashells. it is rare to find good opalised shell with good colour and only small amounts of potch.
Most shells are found in patches and small areas rather than spread thoughout the mine. Good shells are worth more if left natural and not polished for collectors.
Source your single or parcel Opal Shells direct from opal miners and wholesaler/dealers.
