Brazil and Mexican Opal Chart
| Opal Charts on Opal Auctions |

Brazilian and Mexican opals have only recently been accepted by the opal community as a quality opal.
These opal mines are not large scale as per the Australian opal fields and Brazilian opals are mined in the northwest region of Brazil where alluvial deposits are mined.
Mexican contra luz opals are ideal to facet as they are translucent and when faceted the light reflections can be spectacular.
Most Mexican opals are mined in rock strata in mountains that were extinct volcanoes and form on soft tone brown potch .
In 1960s there were some 500 opal mines around La Unicia but today there are not many as it is harder to find .
Mexican and Brazil opal rough is good for hobby or professional opal cutters.
