We have just returned from the Lightning Ridge mines with some sensational BLACK opal, to be listed in the next few days, we are processing the rough now.

The material we have is from the famous "Coocoran" field which produces "Nobbie" opal, which means that most is high dome material and ideal for a ring and of course pendants. Not only does this opal have the preffered "high dome", it is also known for its very bright, colourful, stable opal.

True black opal is becoming harder and harder to obtain as there are few miners now working the fields and most fields are depleted of quality opal. This means that there will be an appreciation of opal value in the future and not too far away.
For those people who collect or invest in BLACK opal this is the time to buy as BLACK opal is becoming rarer, and quality black opal even rarer,
Another factor driving the opal price is the costs involved in finding/mining opal due to the very high fuel prices and now due to increased fuel prices, equipment and tool prices have escalated. So overall due to rarity, extra costs, etc from now is a good time to buy and invest.
