The Newest Opal Shop in Lightning Ridge

Hi Guys and Gals this is my first blog EVER. Let me introduce myself and partner. We are well known Lightning Ridge Identities Griffo and Kaye the Kiwi. We have a site on Opal Auctions called Opal Wilderness which we have been running for a while now. I have been mining Full time at the Coocoran Opal fields since 1992, wow 18 years underground. Dug a lot of dirt in that time, more than most. Found some opal too. Kaye loves to be underground mining with me, something that she has done since day one. First time I took her underground at my Dead Bird claim 80 odd feet down she had a go on the Digger. Went pretty good for a girl that had never been underground let alone seen any mining gear. When she had a go on the Bogger she took to it like a duck to water. After living in a camp on the Opal fields for 12 years North West of The Ridge we moved to town and became Townies as we called people who didn’t live on the mining fields. I still travel to the Coocoran most days to mine or to go prospect drilling looking for new ground to mine for myself or some of our mining crews to work. Kaye has gone the other way and has opened herself an Opal Shop called, you guessed it Opal Wilderness after the site. She opened up in September last year, making it the newest opal shop in Lightning Ridge. She has a great range of all sorts of things to do with Opal and plenty of opal of course. I think she knows someone that finds some sometimes???
Her new shops address is shop 2/7 Opal Street, Lightning Ridge. She reckons that if you are a customer of hers on our site Opal Wilderness and call into her shop to see her she might be able to, weather permitting of course organise you an underground tour in a real opal mine. Perhaps show you some of the sites of The Ridge (wonder who gets that job) There is lots to see and do in Lightning Ridge if you are an Opal Holic like us.
