OPAL FOSSIL BELEMNITES
THIS FOSSIL WAS FOUND IN COOPER PEDY. THEY HAVE BEEN LEFT IN THERE NATURAL CONDITION BUT WE HAVE TAKEN A PHOTO WITH THE OPAL WET . IT IS IDEAL AS A COLLECTORS ITEM OR IT CAN BE MADE INTO A STUNNING NATURAL PENDANT.COLOURFUL CARD LABEL INCLUDED FOR RE SELLERS.
The area of what is now Coober Pedy, Australia, was once covered app 100 million years ago by a large saltwater lake or sea. There was abundant life in it and many of the opal deposits in the area are the hiding place of fossil opal that is shaped by the creatures from the area such as seashells and this fossil squidlike creature called a belemnite. They are usually devoid of cuttable precious opal due to inclusions and malformations that occurred while the opal was being deposited.This specimen shows a area of clean colour.
