Description

OPAL DESCRIPTION

This solid fairy opal is a new type of opal. It has been mined from the Queensland boulder opal fields and is found above the ironstone layer of the boulder opal. The body of the opal is sandstone which has been treated with inert chemicals (non toxic) which darkens the stone and helps show the colors. The color is through the whole opal and not only on the surface. The opal has been stabilized which increases its strength upto 10 times.

This double-sided solid fairy opal pendant has stunning gem colors to both faces of the opal. The colors include red, orange, green, violet, amber, crimson, turquoise and yellow. The colors flash and move superbly with rotation of the opal and there is good play of color. The first 4 photos show one side of the opal whilst the next 4 photos show the other side.

The opal has been set with a sterling silver cap (stamped). The pendant comes with a 1mm sterling silver chain which can be seen in the last photo.

The true beauty of this opal is not fully captured by the photos and we are including video with this listing. The video is to help show some of the movement and interchange of colors.

This opal has been mined from Queensland, Australia.

Shaped and polished it is ready for jewellery, collectors or for reselling.

The photos have been taken indoors with no flash and have not been enhanced in any way.

The white spots or lines seen in some pictures are reflections of light and not spots in the opal.

This opal is a solid opal, it is not a triplet or doublet and has not been treated in any way.
