Welo Top Grade Gemstone

1.76 carats, measuring 12 mm x 10 mm x 3 mm

This piece was cut from a very special parcel of top grade brightness, rare body tone and highly geometric patterns of opal rough. All of this group are grades above most of what is offered on the internet anywhere today. I particularly like flagstone pattern and chose this piece specifically to cut for that pattern.

This piece has a mostly amber tone body with just an edge of white body tone to accent the amber. The colors are strong and bright broadflash flagstone. Several large blocks of color form bright sheets which pop off and on as the light dances from flag to flag. Each block of color contains the entire spectrum and will roll through the rainbow as the opal tilts. This is a very 3-D display, but you won't need special glasses to see it.

Like most top gem opal, the colors remain strong even in low light. Several pictures here are taken in shade and low light. These shots show subtle shades of turquoise and teal, along with shades of orange not normally seen in full bright light. When sunlight hits this opal, the colors pop out like neon signs. Video also taken in gray window light during snowstorm.

The main large flag forms a rainbow tornado in the middle of the opal face, an amazing display of spectral purity.
