Super Bright Multicolor RED RAINBOW rough from the Welo District of Ethiopia, aka Gondar

WELO ROUGH 7.22 ct.  Parcel is 1 stone. #W17. At 7.22 carats, this stone is pure white crystal full of RED, blue and green multicolor fire. 15 mm x 12 mm x 10 mm.  This piece has a totally saturated flashfire color structure.

Super Bright Multicolor clean solid rough. This piece will cut a valuable gem of top quality.

This parcel of rough is solid and clean and very cuttable. There are no cracks or crazing in this opal. It is hydrophane.

All photos are taken dry. I do not water my opal for weight or color enhancement.

No water, oil, sealant, glue, liquid or treatment of any kind has been applied to this rough. No glue is needed for this opal, it is solid and has no cracks.

The colors are very bright even in the dry rough. When polished this new Welo material is simply dazzling. It rates a 5 on the brilliance scale and it's easy on the eye, a real pleasure to look at.

The color structure is generally a flashfire. It shows all the colors of the spectrum, showing every color as the opal moves.

Red is the predominent and strongest color in Welo rough, with orange right behind. Greens, yellows, violet and blues all display their primary hues and many shades between.
