About this item specifically~
This is a super-rare and very pretty type of precious crystal opal from a new locality near Dodoma, Tanzania. It is very remote and thus far is very sporadically available. The material is similar in appearance to some Ethiopian opal and Mexican opal but it is quite stable and very dry. Most of the material from here is somewhat included and shows a similar shimmery look to a mandarin garnet. It isn't easily noticed unless the stone is in bright light but it sparkles with a very impressive look and has strong unique colors with an intense red flash as the primary color. This is a true precious opal with frontal colorplay and is not a contra-luz stone that requires special orientation to display the color. The video in this listing shows the impressive overall look that this stone has in motion. It weighs about .93 carat and measures about 8.5mm x 6.5mm x 4.5mm approx.
