Description

OK, I'm tired of looking at this auction. So I'm putting this extraordinary opal in the $1NR auctions.

The holiday season is coming and this opal really wants to be set and worn by some lucky lady. So I'm casting it upon the waters and hoping that the right person will see it for the rare and beautiful opal that it is.

I was going to pull the auction and hold this opal in my private collection, but it refused and forced me to relist it. I don't argue with my opals when they speak so forcefully to me. So here it is:

Multicolor Rolling Ribbon Flash - a very rare pattern

Directional play of color display, with total multicolor fire in a splendid rolling flash pattern. This is a combination of flagstone, ribbon and rolling flash. No dead spots, full color all over the stone face, from different angles. Flashy and colorful.

Every color imaginable is represented here. Some of the flags are solid color, others present a rolling rainbow total spectral effect.

Rare colors such as violet and magenta are here in profusion, as well as strong displays of blues, greens, yellow and reds of many shades. Very showy!

0.56 carats. 6 mm x 8 mm in an N6 body tone. Very gaudy!

This would be perfect for a ring stone, with the lively dancing colors changing at every slight movement of the stone.

This is cut to a standard calibrated size and may fit right into a ready made setting, but it really deserves a custom designed gold setting with a diamond or two.

FREE SHIPPING, as always...

Questions & Comments

opalfireinfo, October 20, 2008:

Hello there,

Thanks for writing with a question about this opal. There are no flaws or inclusions which would mar the beauty of this stone. It is solid and free of cracks, pits or sand. This opal's only shortcomig is the normally directional nature of the rolling ribbon flash pattern, which makes the opal so unique and desirable. The color shows well in pendant position, but it would probably suit a ring better, due to the lively display which comes from the moving stone.

Thank you for your question, please write anytime.

Hi Michael,

Nope, I never got a bid on this one. I lowered the price for almost a week, thinking someone would scoop it up at a give-away price, but no nibblers. It's quite a little stunner, directional as hell, but that's how it goes with rolling flash and broadflash patterns.

I did rewrite the title when I put the price back up to its wholesale value.

I'm really sorry to hear about your foreclosure. I hope one of the federal help programs will be able to stop proceedings and help you refinance. If your mortgage got bundled and sold by your bank, you may be able to stop the foreclosure because the bank doesn't actually have the right to foreclose if they no longer hold the mortgage. Whoever actually owns it now has to start the proceedings. I've seen reports of that strategy working in some parts of the country. Get a good lawyer -ha, now there's an oxymoron for you, a good lawyer.

you know what they call ten thousand lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? a good start!

Later,

Mike

Hi there Michael.

How's everything? Hope this email finds you anf your family well and happy.

I'm writing today because I just put one of the opals you have been interested in up for the $1NR auction. It's the little flashy bowtie magenta opal. Here's a chance to sneak it into your collection. The last few $1NR's have not sold very high, and this one may not either. Not enough people are paying attention, I think.

Anyway, here it is:

You might pick it up at a bargain price. Good luck if you decide to bid.

Best Wishes,

Mike Kelley
