Please note that we employ photography techniques that emphasize the beauty of the stones and that many microscopic elements NOT visible to the naked eye will sometimes show in the photographs...please disregard any lint, black gemcup fibers, dust, etc. that you may see in the photos.  We will always disclose any noticeable or consequential flaws or imperfections in our listings.  These unique characteristics add to the provenance of the stones and ensure your investment is in quality, 100% natural and untreated opal. This item has been photographed using  a variety of lighting sources and background materials to show the various appearances of the stone based on lighting conditions but the photos have NOT been edited or modified except for cropping (cutting to size). There will be variances in the temperature and color of lighting and/or background color/texture to best represent the item in differing settings. About this item specifically~

Fairly recently, Honduran black matrix opal has become a strong contender in the world opal market.  Its remarkable multicolor pinfire is very bright when cut carefully and it is EXTREMELY durable and wearable compared to Aussie matrix opal because it is naturally black and needs no treatment to make it dark like Andamooka matrix opal from Australia.  Since it is not treated to make it black, it will not fade with wear or possibly show scratches easily.  This stone has sparkling bright pinfire and it shows the twinkling color easily.  THIS OPAL HAS SUPER SUPER RARE MULTICOLOR TONES (WE HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED SUCH A VARIED PALETTE ON ONE OF THIS TYPE) ON THE FACE~ It is a fancy cabochon cut and well finished for a pendant.  This material is volcanic in origin and as a result it has spots and inclusions that are like tiny ashy areas within the matrix.  This stone has one or two little (microscopic) spots on the face of grey but they add character to the opal, we think.  They are always in this material similarly to the areas of impurities in all matrix opal.  The stone weighs about 4.4 carats and measures about 11.5mmx11mmx5mm approx.  We are happy to offer this nice matrix opal from just $1 start with NO RESERVE~HURRY~
