About this item specifically~
Here is a rare and beautiful Mexican opal that has become quite difficult to find outside of prominent collections because of their rarity and how highly they are desired by collectors. There are many highly porous orange types of precious opal from the classic Mexican localities but this particular stone has a very durable and hard opaque base that has virtually no absorbency and is brightly colored. This high-dome stone will keep everyone staring because of the beautiful and diverse metallic colorplay you see all over the surface. It is technically a "fire" opal but it is also an opaque fire opal with intense precious colorplay; quite a rarity. It shows nice spectral palettes of reflective fire on all sides and from all angles. This ExoticOpal weighs about 1.73 carats and measures about 8.7mm x 7.8mm x 5.2mm aprx. This ExoticOpal is being offered with a very modest reserve~
