About this item specifically~
This is a rare and highly desirable Mexican opal from the Queretaro locality that shows a harlequin geometric colorshow hardly ever found in any opals from Mexico. This locality has produced outstanding sporadic material through the years and this particular stone is one that has an intense orange, even and relatively clear crystalline base. Stones of this type with precious colorplay are quite rare and ones of this size almost never become available because collectors snap them up whenever they are sold and they are no longer being mined. The stone shows a medium-intensity pattern of geometrically adjacent harlequin-like patterned colorplay and the panes of color have an almost sparkling look that gives the opal a nice dynamic as it is moved and makes it perfect for a great ring setting. It is also a great collector stone with upward potential that makes it a great investment. The opal is a high-dome oval shape with a nice cut and finish. It weighs about 3.31 carats and measures about 11mm x 9.2mm x 5.5mm aprx. We are offering this rare and unusual ExoticOpal at under $500 per carat ~ just $1588~
