About this item specifically~ This is a unique and beautiful opal that we like to call the Mexican "jumping bean". This is an unusual and quite rare INTENSE orange transparent crystal fire opal on one side and on the other side, the base color changes to an opaque, creamy orange. The color split is very distinct and follows the centerline of the stone perfectly so each side looks totally different. The entire opal is cut and polished into a perfect bean-like shape and is a true doublesided opal with neither side being the front or back. This stone has INTENSE NEON MULTICOLOR fire that is highly dynamic and easily a 5/5 for brightness. They also have a pattern of regular and patchy colorplay that resembles a harlequin pattern (especially noticeable on the lighter side). Both sides show this unique and brilliant colorshow and the shape and doublesidedness make this opal perfect for an award-winning design that would allow the stone to pivot or turn (as in a pendant) so that both unique sides could be easily displayed. Some designers refer to gems like this as "day" and "night" because they mount into a piece that looks totally different and can be worn during the day with one look and then switched to the other look for night wearing. This opal is from the Jalisco locality and would be exceptional without the unique shape and doublesided nature. It is truly a one-of-a-kind stone that would delight anyone that enjoys opal.
