We have recently opened the vault to release a few surplus pieces of FINE QUALITY OPAL from our personal collection.  This stone is one of a bevy of SUPERGEM crystal Mexican opals from the famed Queretaro mines and many from the bench of the greatest Mexican opal cutter, Alvaro Cuellar.  These are all VERY high end Mexican opals and they are of a quality unseen on the market today.  We are offering a few super collector pieces over the next few weeks from our vaults that are among the highest quality examples of their species in existence and this is your chance to quench your "opalholic" thirst for these rare pieces. Mexican opals are cut from a hard rhyolitic deposit and are one of the most time consuming and labor intensive opals to cut.  These are a very special bunch of crystal clear (unless noted otherwise) TRUE PRECIOUS and Contra-Luz(lighting in the side or rear) colorplay in all lighting and from all angles.  These are truly a sight to behold and this is your opportunity to invest in opal you will be proud to own and even prouder (sic) to show off!

This stone is unusually large and very clear for the species.  It has a slight silky haze but overall is a nice clear crystal piece cut into a pleasing native oval cabochon with mild precious fire in bright light and intense contra-luz fire when lit from behind.  The piece is very interesting from a collector standpoint because it exhibits a rare "cats-eye" effect with a rainbow eye that glides over the stone with movement.  This is fairly rare in this particular type so don't miss this one.  It weighs about 2.3 ct and measures about 12.3mmx6.4mmx5.2mm approx and is a super deal at only $189!
