The Seda Opal Story
Paul Sedawie started mining at the Four mile field in Lightning Ridge in 1986 with his first partner Bob Young. It took them 6 months to find a decent stone and this experience gave me a healthy respect for the stone and how hard it is to find. The Seda Opal company was incorporated in 1994. We are a member of the Australian Opal and Gem Industry Association .we and . Seda Opals is an abbreviation from our surname Sedawie. The business is mainly wholesale and it is through this site that we can bring the opal fields direct to you. If you don't really like anything, return it for a no questions asked refund or swap it for other stock. You will also find us as the trade shows in Tuscon and Denver. We also send sales staff to some Europe and Asian countries. Our aim is to offer a realiable, friendly service providing good value for your money. Your continued business is our business. All the best. Paul Sedawie and staff.

Questions & Comments

happyseal1, January 1, 2008:

I live in the US. Is there a custom charge if I buy this stone through the auction? When will you be in Tuscon? Would you bring this stone?

Thanks

Happyseal

sedaopals, January 2, 2008:

Hi

This is a beautiful stone with a very rare pattern. If mailed to you from Australia, there will be duties and taxes charged. However, I have a rep going to the US in two weeks time so there will be no customs or duties. I have a booth at the Tucson Show at the GJX tent booth number 907. I wasn't planning to take this stone as Len Cram was considering photographing it for his new book as the pattern is so rare but I am prepared to sell it to you. Please indicate if you are interested in the purchasing this stone.

Regards

Paul and Staff

I would love to see your collector stones.

Thanks

happyseal1, February 18, 2008:

Forgot to mention, I loved the stones. Can you tell me anything about the Wyoming Field?  Thanks

Jeff

sedaopals, February 19, 2008:
Hi Jeff I will send the poster to day by airmail. The wyoming field is a old field just out of town which has a good reputation for quality stones. The area is known for  having some gypsum crystals in the opal but this pocket  which you bought dosent have any in it.It dosent affect the opal any way. This is believd to be the biggest pocket of red opal to be found at lightning ridge for years[according to Len cram] Chris has mined for app 15 years and this is his first large pocket but he has a few partners in it.Best regards paul

sedaopals, February 27, 2008:

HiJeff I hope all is well. They have just found another pocket of opal in Chris mine so he is excited about it.It will take a while to process and if you like i can email some new stones to you-whats your emauil address .best regards Paul
